Weather record lost

The weather station of the Meteorology and Air Quality chair group in Wageningen lost its national weather record last Friday. The record for the coldest March night – minus 18.7 degrees Celsius – had stood since 7 March 1971 and was recorded by the weather station in the Haarweg. During the night from Thursday to Friday 4 March a new low was recorded at the KNMI-weather station at Markenesse in the Noordoost Polder: minus 20.7 degrees Celsius. It was very cold that night in Wageningen as well, but due to the mist the thermometer only showed minus 16.3 degrees. / GvM
