Health and Society student Nadine Visser came eighth in the heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
The 20-year-old athlete almost broke the Dutch record in the 100 metre hurdles. She was 0.04 seconds slower than Marjan Olyslager’s record-breaking time of 12.77 that she recorded in 1989. Visser is now concentrating on the 4x100 metre relay, which she will be running on 29 August along with silver medallist Dafne Schippers. Visser is a newcomer in the relay team and will probably run the fi rst leg. She admitted earlier that this was a good position as she still has trouble with the handover. The four relay women are reckoning on a place in the final.
