WIAS recognised

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) has approved the Wageningen Institute of Animal Sciences (WIAS) for the coming six years. KNAW had praise for the quality of research and education at the graduate school, but advised the animal scientists to aim for more funding from NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research). According to the scientific director, Professor Johan van Arendonk, WIAS is already on the way, with seven postdocs and members of staff due to receive special training in the autumn of this year. This should lead to research proposals being submitted to NWO at the beginning of 2006. / GvM
