Planting older trees in parks is less expensive in the long term. Adult trees cost twice as much, but managing the trees costs 60 to 75 percent less according to landscape architect Dr Frits Ruyten in his doctoral research. Ruyten argues for a planting method that takes the final look of the landscape as a starting point so that adult plants and trees are planted directly where they belong and a more precise planning of the space can be made.
