Train travel discounts also for students
Students can travel cheaper this month on the Dutch Railways (NS). With a public transport week pass, they can travel free of charge on Sundays. With a weekend pass, they can travel throughout the entire country after seven in the evening for the 'railrunner' fare.

Earlier on, the NS introduced the 'zoutkaartje' to allow annual subscription holders to travel in the first class outside the rush hours in January. Passengers with a yearly concession card (voordeelurenkaart) may travel after seven in the evening with a 'railrunner' costing 2.50 euros.
Students could not benefit from this earlier offer because they are not contract partners of the NS. Until last week, the NS had expected that the offer for permanent subscription holders alone would have sufficient effect.
