Three Veni grants for Wageningen

Joost van den Borne, Peter van Esse and Nina Fatouros are each to receive Veni grants of 250,000 euros to enable them to develop their innovative scientific ideas further. That is enough money for three years' research.

The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research has awarded 143 Veni grants to talented young researchers. Three Veni grants went to Wageningen. Van den Borne, at the Animal Nutrition Chair Group, is going to look at diabetes among calves. Van Esse, at the Laboratory of Phytopathology, is studying immune suppressors in dahlias. Fatouros, at the Laboratory of Entomology, is carrying out research into how plants defend themselves against caterpillars.
