'And they are so beautiful too'
There are still places which boast an incredibly large bio diversity. Like 'beetle man' Theodoor Heijerman's attic, for example, which houses give-or-take fifty thousand beetles, all pinned in orderly ranks. Weevils are his speciality. Because they are so diverse and so beautiful, says Heijerman, researcher with the Biosystematics group, by way of explanation for his passion. There are six hundred species in the Netherlands alone.
And the Tarthorst in Wageningen is one of the hotspots.
