TOP, a small technology company in Wageningen, has found a new use for unwanted cucumbers: the cucumber smoothie.
TOP began producing 40,000 bottles of cucumber smoothie yesterday. The drinks will be distributed free of charge in Dutch train stations next week. The production costs are borne by Rabobank, FresQ, the Westland Municipality, The Food Company and TOP as a token of support for cucumber growers. TOP is one of the companies set up by food technology pioneer Bert Tournois.
