Students support Madrid victims

About eighty young people, including many Spanish students, gathered last Friday around the monument on the 5 Mei Plein.

They held a short memorial for the victims of the bomb attacks in the Spanish capital on Thursday 11 March. At seven o’clock there were two minutes of silence, to coincide with the same action in Spain. Many carried posters with ‘peace’ and lit candles. Spanish exchange student Laura Piñuela was glad that the spontaneous demonstration took place. “I studied in Madrid and stayed at home the whole day yesterday in shock.” According to Piñuela meetings like this are held often in Spain. “It doesn’t matter who carried out the attacks. We are sick of them.”
