Storm chaser bows to wind

You might think that no wind is strong enough for a storm chaser. But the high winds last Thursday, 18 January, were too much for storm chaser Ben Lankamp. He cancelled the talk he was due to give at the student association Pyrus in Wageningen.

Lankamp was scheduled to talk about his hurricane chasing activities in America to Soil, Water and Atmosphere students, but cancelled because of the weather alarm. The students saw the humour in his cancellation due to bad weather. But in retrospect it was sensible of him, says Pyrus chair Stefan Ligtenberg. ‘He wouldn’t have made it anyway. He was coming by train, and by 5 o’clock all trains had stopped running.’
