Who? Paul Berentsen
Where? Wageningen business economist and editor of the scientific journal Agricultural Systems.
What? Agricultural Systems achieved the highest impact factor of any journal in the ISI category Agriculture, Multidisciplinary.
'ISI, a research platform, calculates the impact factor of scientific journals every year. In other words: how often do researchers cite the articles in this journal? I am head editor of Agricultural Systems. Our impact factor went up this year from 2.1 to 2.9, putting us first in our category out of 55 international journals.'
How did you do it?
'We select rigorously for quality; about 60 percent of the manuscripts don't get beyond the editor's desk. Because we select strictly, good reviewers are willing to assess the manuscripts. And that often produces outstanding articles.'
'Yes of course, I am very pleased. I don't think it happens very often that a Wageningen editor and his journal come first in an ISI category.'
