Resident permit costs remain high


The Minister for immigration and integration Hilbrand Nawijn has said that
the price of a resident permit for foreign students and teachers will
remain 430 euros. The Dutch parliament had put pressure on Nawijn to
reverse the recent dramatic increase in the cost of permits, but Nawijn
says he does not have the money to do this.

According to the minister the reversal of this measure would cost 1.2
million euros, and he is faced with having to reduce the total costs of
permits by 20 million euros. “At the moment I see no way of compensating
