Ralf + heraldry

'There's two years' fulltime work here'

Ralf Hartemink, programme director at the Food Microbiology laboratory at the Education Institute
Ralf is in the arms trade. Coats of arms, that is. Nothing dodgy. He collects civic heraldry and has more than 200,000 coats of arms from district, provincial and national government bodies. As well as albums full of seals, cigar bands and the like. It is the largest collection of its kind in the world and is particularly strong on items from the early twentieth century. Relics of a forgotten age. About half the collection can now be seen on the internet (www.ngw.nl).  Take a look!
