Pricey prize for campus's stone seats

The fifty stone seats around the Forum have won a major international prize for ‘product design’. A great honour no doubt, but one that costs well over 2,000 euros.

Every year, IndustrieForum Hannover awards prizes in several design categories. The jury for the 'product design award' praised the stones on the Wageningen campus for the special atmosphere they lend to their surroundings. No problem there.
But when it comes to the prize itself, there is. Of the 2756 entrants, 993 won a prize: a 36 percent chance of success. And entry to the competition cost 305 euros in registration fee. If you are one of the lucky winners, there are additional costs: 825 euros for including the design in the IndustrieForum's annual catalogue, 50 euros translation costs, 200 euros for online publication and between 800 and 1,800 euros for compulsory participation in the exhibition. So winning costs you at least 2,180 euros. Congratulations, you are one of the lucky not-so-few!
In March the 50 best of the best designs will receive further awards. What that will cost is not yet clear.
