Premiere for Aids film

Close concerns, distant mountains, the last film in a series about the influence of aids on rural areas, will be premiered on 12 December. The maker is Loes Witteveen, coordinator of the TREAT master's programme at Van Hall Larenstein (VHL).

The film was recorded in Tanzania during a refresher course on Aids and rural development for international alumni of VHL and Wageningen University. The four previous films that Witteveen made on the subject broke taboos. The series shows how development workers in Africa and Asia think up solutions to problems such as loss of labour. Considerable international interest has been shown in the films. The premiere will be held on Wednesday 12 December at 14.00 in Hall 2 of Atlas in Wageningen. After the screening, Loes Witteveen will discuss her films and students from Wageningen University will hold presentations on Aids and development.
