Plant sciences lab equipment for Ghana

Lab articles left behind by the Plant Sciences Group get a new lease of life in Ghana.

Before their move to the Radix building, the Plant Sciences departments thoroughly cleared out cellars and attics and uncovered disused furniture and equipment, says Marleen Henkens of the house-moving team. These articles could not be taken along because of limited space in the Radix.
Wageningen alumnus Peter Twumasi picked out the best of the used materials for a biosciences and agriculture institute in Ghana. Last week, he loaded this – mainly written-off lab equipment – into a 35 cubic metre sea container headed for Ghana. ‘All this equipment is in good working condition’, Henkens says. Plant Sciences has put aside a selection for own use. There are still materials for other development aid organizations, for the taking.
