Paper containers burnt out
Putting paper waste outside at night at de Dreijen is dangerous. The twelve containers that were put outside by mistake on Tuesday evening 18 October went up in flames the very same evening.
The fire brigade had the fire under control within an hour of the alarm being raised. The caretaker of the building, Marcel Gerritsen, suspects that one container was set on fire deliberately, and that after that the fire spread to the other containers. ‘In fact we never put these paper containers outside because they cannot be locked like the other garbage containers that are kept outside.’ / YdH
