One degree per thesis

University rector Bert Speelman wants to change the examination rules to prevent students using one MSc thesis to obtain several MSc degree titles.

The ISP reported this problem to the rector in September 2002. In a letter to the student council, Speelman has now requested permission to change the regulations in examination article 34. This article concerns the conditions that students have to fulfil in order to graduate from two master’s programmes. Speelman suggests that a clause be added to the article, stating that an MSc thesis should be linked to the chair group where the student was supervised, and therefore also the MSc-degree awarded.
