New climate change journal

Rik Leemans’ new journal will provide an overview of the research.

Ambitions run high. So standards are high too. Within five years the new scientific journal Current Opinions in Environmental Sustainability should have an impact factor of five, says Wageningen professor Rik Leemans. Leemans initiated the journal and is its editor-in-chief. The first issue comes out in October.

There’s quite a tsunami of articles on climate change these days. With so much information, even the experts find it hard to see the wood for the trees. ‘There is a lot of news on all sorts of issues, but there is a lack of synthesis of the news', Leemans explains. ‘This will be a journal that doesn’t so much present new results as offer a synthesis of the available knowledge in articles of maximum four thousand words.’
