New chairwoman

The Chinese Association of Students and Scholars in Wageningen has a new chairwoman. Li Yuan was elected by the CASSW members on June 14 to succeed chairman Wang Yiding, and will head the association until July 2008.

During the meeting the annual report of the CASSW was presented. Li Yuan (25) presented her plans for the future and answered questions about herself. She has nearly completed an MSc in Food Technology and will start her PhD in September. The CASSW is an important organisation for Chinese students. It helps new students to adapt to their new environment by organising social activities like excursions, bicycle repairs and a hair-cutting workshop. The association also assists students with registration and paperwork at the embassy and university during their study.
