Most non-Europeans

Maastricht has the most foreign students, but Wageningen has the highest number of non-European students according to the report Kennis in Kaart (Knowledge Mapped) published by the ministry of education last week. The two universities are the front-runners in the internationalisation of Dutch higher education. In Maastricht 26.1 percent of the students come from abroad. In Wageningen the figure is 19.1 percent, but almost three-quarters of these come from outside Europe. The University of Maastricht has large numbers of German and Belgian students. The Dutch magazine Elsevier declared Wageningen the most international Dutch university last month in its annual special on Studying. / JH
