Most first year boys are virgins

Many male first year students cannot claim to have much sexual experience, disclosed the CBS in its Youth Monitor 2009.

Almost two-thirds of the seventeen and eighteen year-old boys in pre-university secondary schools (havo, vwo, hbo) and the universities have never slept with someone before. In contrast, 63 per cent of their peers in the technical colleges (vmbo, mbo) have lost their virginity at that age. Similarly, higher educated girls have more experience. Of these, 56 per cent have made love before at the ages of seventeen and eighteen. Less educated girls of the same ages have had the most sexual intercourse, at 82 percent.
