Millions for China cooperation

Wageningen UR will work together with Chinese universities in three new projects on natural resource management, biotechnology and virology. The Dutch and Chinese governments will each contribute about three million euros.

In Wageningen the Environmental Policy and Development Economics groups and the Laboratories for Plant Breeding and Virology are involved. The projects are part of a ‘programme of strategic alliances’, in which the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Chinese ministry of science and technology are investing in collaboration between Dutch and Chinese universities. A total of fifteen PhD and seven postdoctoral positions will be created within the three projects in the coming five years.
