Midas Dekkers' visit is postponed

The Dutch biologist and author Midas Dekkers was supposed to open the Insects and Society series of talks this Wednesday evening in Forum. However, he has broken his arm and so will not be coming.

Dekkers, who noted major similarities between humans and insects in his book The Larva, has promised to come to Wageningen on 16 February instead.  This evening's talk will be taken over by the Wageningen researchers Arnold van Huis and Marcel Dicke, who will take a look at the role of insects in art and culture.

The biennial series of talks on Insects and Society has been going since 1996. Eight talks explore the different roles of insects, for example as a source of inspiration for art or technology. But after all those years the main highlight is still the opportunity to eat insects. That will be possible on 12 January.

You can find more information about Insects and Society here (in Dutch).
