Mayor wants easier family reunions

The mayor of Wageningen, Alexander Pechthold, wants to make it easier for international students and researchers who are trying to have their family join them in the Netherlands.

“I was surprised when I discovered that foreign researchers cannot arrange the permits and visas needed within Wageningen,” said Pechthold last Monday at a discussion evening organised by Wageningen youth organisations. At present non-EU citizens have to go to The Hague to arrange permits. Pechthold said that he will try to make it possible for applicants to carry out the necessary procedures in Wageningen.
