Main library to close at six

New, longer opening times for the university libraries have been fixed, after a six-month trial. The times are more limited than they were during the trial, but longer than the previous opening times. From 1 October, the central Jan-Kopshuis library will be open on weekdays from nine o’clock in the morning to six in the evening. This is an hour longer than previously, but one hour shorter than during the test. According to library staff, very little use is made of the last hour in the evening. The opening times of the library in the Leeuwenborch will remain unchanged: weekdays from nine to five, and Monday to Thursday also in the evenings from seven to ten thirty. The Leeuwenborch library is also the only one open on Saturdays, between ten and three. The library at Alterra, De Haaff, will remain open until five o’clock in the afternoon. The trial was held in response to the negative score of Wageningen students in the Study Choice Guide last year concerning the limited opening times of the libraries. / JH
