Leak delays Forum move

A water leak has caused a lot of damage to the cable network in the new Forum building. As a result the library will move in June instead of April.

According to Joris Fortuin, head of the Forum building, something went wrong when the sprinkler installation was tested on Wednesday 14 March. ‘There were no problems when a high-pressure air test was done, but when water pressure was introduced a pipe cap burst in an unfortunate place. As a result the data cables got wet and some now have to be replaced.’ The damage is confined to the block in which the library, Van Hall Larenstein and student administration will be housed. There is no damage in the wings where most of the teaching facilities will be located. Fortuin says that teaching in the Forum will still start according to plan on 1 May.
