There is a small spanner in the works delaying the demolition of the old monastery buildings on the Larenstein estate in Velp.
The demolition has been postponed until further notice for lack of the required permits. Last week, VHL announced that a permit had been applied for, the demolition work contracted out and arrangements made for alternative nesting places for swifts and bats inhabiting the disused buildings. These were part of the monastery and children's home founded in 1973. Later they were rented out to a secondary school, but they have now been empty for one and a half years.
