Koornneef director Max Planck Institute

Plant geneticist Professor Maarten Koornneef of the Laboratory of Genetics, and one of the pioneers of the research on the genome of the model plant Arabidopsis, has been appointed director of the newly formed department of plant breeding and genetics of the renowned Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne. He will remain attached to Wageningen University for one day a week. Koornneef is one of the most celebrated and citated Wageningen scientists.
