‘You end up in some strange spots'

Geocaching, the latest form of treasure-hunting via satellite: that's Jaap van Raffe's hobby. And this Alterra-based researcher of forest and nature management is quite an addict. He writes books on it, lays down trails with caches at the end of
them, runs a company together with colleague Tineke de Boer (www.jati.nl) and spends at least a day a week geocaching himself. ‘It combines everything I like: nature and new technology. You go out into the countryside with a goal. And you have some interesting experiences.'
