How do omega 3 fatty acids affect the heart?

On Sunday 29 August at the conference of the European Society of Cardiology in Stockholm, Wageningen professor of Public Health Research Daan Kromhout will announce the results of his Alpha Omega Trial.

In this ten-year research, Kromhout studied the effects of omega 3 fatty acids from fish and plant-based foods on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. This was the first double-blind nutrition research on the effects of these fats. The research involved 4,837 heart patients from 32 Dutch hospitals. The results will be made known at 10.00 on Sunday, and there will be a detailed report on them on www.resource.wur.nl
