‘He even put on a yellow vest’

Who? Derek Deli Pan from China.
What?Cycling along the A12 to Ede.
Why?Just following the sign posts.

What happened?
I wanted to go to Ede-Wageningen train station. Suddenly, I saw a sign post with Ede on it. I thought that it was a little out of the way, but I decided to follow the signs.
What happened then?
'Suddenly, I was cycling along a big road. After a few minutes, I saw a police car driving beside me. The man in the car was waving wildly and I thought that he wanted to overtake me. But when I stopped, the car stopped too. I didn't know what was going on, and was about to continue cycling when the policeman stepped out of the car. He even put on a yellow vest.'
'Well, the policeman told me that I was on the highway. He then put my bicycle into the car and we drove to Ede together. The policeman was super friendly; I didn't even get a fine.'
Didn't anything strike you as strange?
'I was wondering why there were no other cyclists, but then I thought: anything is possible in the Netherlands.
