Green light

The launch of the biggest algae reactor at the AlgaePARC test facility was well-timed.

Gathering clouds created almost ideal light conditions for the shade-loving algae. As the plexiglass tubes slowly fill with the still pale green algae soup, researcher Maria Cuaresma Franco turns on the taps to bleed the system. With the algae population growing fast, the algae researchers expect the tubes to be dark green by the date of the official opening of AlgaePARC on Friday 17June.
