Going, going, gone!

Argo rowing club earned 1300 euros on Saturday 9 February from a real live art auction. Auctioneer Alexander Pechtold (day job: Dutch MP) sold off five paintings by boat repairman Adrie Brouwer and artistic relatives of Argonauts. The proceeds will go towards renovating the clubhouse.

The auction was part of Argo's centenary celebrations. The same day the club also held a symposium about its rowing successes, led by the famous Argo alumnus Gerrit Hiemstra. The day was devoted to the question of how get to the top, with insights from a top oarsman, top coach, nutritionist and sports psychologist. A reunion will follow later this year and the festivities will be rounded off with a big party.
