Girl friendly

Wageningen University scores highest in the Guide to Higher Education for Women. In Wageningen there are 213 female students per female professor, in Maastricht the figure is 1587. The boys are much better off: in Wageningen there is one male professor for every 36 male students. The Guide to Higher Education for Women is meant as a satirical addition to the normal Guide to Higher Education, and uses exactly the same layout. Advice is also given: a woman who wants to become a professor will be best off choosing the hard sciences, or to go to Leiden or the University of Amsterdam. Maastricht is better avoided. The guide was compiled by people working for the EU-financed EQUAL project ‘Bridging the gender gap at universities’. / HOP
