In July, the Dutch cabinet reserved 10 million euros for the top institute Groene Genetica en Pharma.
'How much of that we will get is not clear yet', says director Bernard de Geus of Groene Genetica, the top institute for breeding research with significant input from Wageningen. The institute already has forty million euros to spend between 2007 and 2011. 'The present allocation is intended for essential costs in 2012', says De Geus, 'The cabinet is ensuring continuity.' The top institute is due for inspection this autumn. If this mid-term review is satisfactory, the cabinet will approve the funding for 2012.
