Frits Claassen is teacher of the year

Assistant professor Frits Claassen has been chosen as Teacher of the Year 2012. This was announced during the students’ council’s New Year drinks party on Tuesday evening.

Claassen: ‘A teacher with a passion both for his work and for the interests of his students.’
The jury praised Claassens capacity to enthuse his students in spite of the demanding programme he teaches on and the courses loaded with maths.

Claassen will receive a bronze replica of The Teacher, the art work in front of the Leeuwenborch building where he lectures. He and the other nominees will also receive 2,500 euros, a certificate and the jury report.

In the race for the title 'Teacher of the year'  Claassen beat Jan Willem van Groenigen, Ljiljana Rodic-Wiersma, Marthijn Sonneveld and Huub Savelkoul.
