Flying start for Ooijevaar

Mark Ooijevaar won the five and the ten-kilometre events in the first races of the new skating season.

In the 333-metre ring in Nijmegen, the stayer chalked up faster times than in 2008 in the three shortest all-round distances (500, 1500 and 5000 metre). This WU-student of Forest and Nature Management was way ahead of the pack in the five and the ten-kilometre races, but failed to achieve a new record. / YdH
