Flying robot

A team of students from Delft won a prize for the most exotic flying machine in a competition for mini-aircraft last week. Wageningen PhD student David Lentink helped the students to design the wings of the Delfly, which work like those of an insect. According to Lentink, a small aircraft like this is likely to be interesting for defence, for instance for reconnaissance flights in buildings. Lentink: ‘Flapping wings help the Delfly to stay stable in confined areas.’ See www.delfly.nl under 'Downloads'. / KV
