The Netherlands Institute for Fisheries Research (RIVO) is to work closely with the Norwegian institute for research on fisheries and aquaculture (Fiskeriforskning) in Tromsø.
The two institutes signed a five-year cooperation contract on Wednesday 10 March. Although they have previously collaborated on projects, the new framework will intensify cooperation and so strengthen their position in the European market. The cooperation will focus on a number of aspects including expertise development, exchange of staff, opening up new markets and financing joint research activities. Both are already working together in the EU-project SeafoodPlus, which has a budget of 26 million euros to develop healthy fish food products.
