Few elections

Many of the workers’ councils (OR) for which elections will be held in December have too few candidates for the elections to take place. At the Head Office there was so little interest that there is only one candidate for the nine seats allotted to this OR. There are nineteen electoral groups for the workers’ councils representing the various parts of the Wageningen UR organisation as well as the central employees’ council. For twelve of the nineteen groups no elections will be held because the number of candidates is less than or the same as the number of seats. Interest is low within the university and the head office, and that is believed to be the result of the current reorganisations. Elections will be held at most of the research institutes. Councils with too few candidates can look for reinforcement, and these people do not have to be elected. / KV
