Over 120 people enjoyed a ‘Boergundian’ feast in the cow shed of Aver Heino in Overijssel in the weekend of 11 and 12 October.
The organic experimental farm is open to members of the public who want an introduction to organic agriculture. By way of the meal, the Netwerk Biologische InfoCentra and Stichting Van Eigen Erf want to encourage people to get their daily groceries from the local organic farmer, as ‘food from nearby’ is fresher, healthier and more sustainable than ‘food from afar’. The menu was therefore prepared from the harvest of the land, fitting for the season and from the local region. From time to time, a cow paid a visit to the guests during dinner. And right before dinner on Saturday evening, a calf was born.
