Dull ceremonies to change

No more endless hard sell stories about the alumni club, not too much technical information and more personal talks. These are the recommendations for improving the degree awards ceremonies in Wageningen, produced by a working group consisting of two student council members and people from the department of education.

Suggestions vary from changing the way the stage is set up to paying more attention to students’ extracurricular activities. Other points of detail were examined, including whether a replacement professor is entitled to wear a gown. The examination committees, which are responsible for the degree ceremonies, have discussed the recommendations and say they will take action. The first changes are expected to be seen during the ceremonies in March. / JH
