De Wereld makes comeback as hotel-restaurant

The reopening of Hotel De Wereld this week marks a return to its original function as hotel and restaurant.
De Wereld is one of Wageningen’s most important historical landmarks, as it is where the German recapitulation was signed at the end of the Second World War. Until last year the home of Studium Generale, Wageningen UR has invested a considerable sum in turning De Wereld into a stylish hotel and restaurant. Nanne Groot, head of Real Estate and Construction for Wageningen UR is pleased with the result. While retaining the old features of the building, the interior has been modernised with trendy furnishings. It’s certainly chique, but a visit doesn’t have to be expensive: there are sandwiches available for two euros.
