For a moment it seemed like the return of the 1970s in Wageningen.
On Saturday 25 May exuberant demonstrators danced on the grass in front of the former WUR headquarters at Duivendaal. They had a lot of fun, partly thanks to the sunshine and the cheerful music coming from the speakers. The demonstrators were here for the 'March against Monsanto', a global protest against the chemical and biotech giant's allegedly damaging policy and abuse of power. Between 1500 and 2000 people marched through Wageningen town centre with banners, ending with lay wreaths for Monsantso's 'victims'. According to the police, the demonstration was orderly and there was good collaboration between the police and the organizers.
