Contribution to Internet connection costs

There have been relatively few applications for the financial contribution available from the university for an Internet connection in student houses.

Since the measure was made known in January only twenty houses have applied, of the two hundred or so who could. Costs of connection vary depending on the speed of the connection and the amount of cable needed, but up to two hundred euros can be claimed. Hans Bronckhorst of the Education department expects more applications. The university introduced the measure to ensure that students in private student houses can also have Internet access if they wish. All those in SSHW accommodation have cheap and fast connections. The contribution to start-up costs will continue for the rest of this academic year and probably also next year. The student house must be registered at the WSO, and the connection must be from after 1 September 2003.
