Container rooms at the Haarweg

Big containers were piled on top of each other at the Haarweg in Wageningen yesterday. They will be turned into 150 temporary student rooms.

The university is creating these rooms specifically for foreign students, who are given a bed guarantee when they come to the Netherlands. The first 50 container rooms are expected to be ready mid-September. The second batch of 50 rooms will follow on 17 October and the last will be ready in November.
Student housing provider Idealis initially objected to the construction because the containers were considered to come too close to the nearby Idealis accommodation. After the plans had been adjusted, building was allowed to continue.
