Martin Scholten, director of the Animal Sciences Group, has called on staff and students of Wageningen UR to write an essay on the issues surrounding intensive livestock farming.
'Livestock farming is attracting a lot of public interest at the moment', says Scholten. 'That means people look towards Wageningen researchers too, to see what insights research can offer on the livestock issue. We want to bring them together in a collection of cogent essays.
The essay competition is an initiative of the taskforce on 'ethical livestock farming' at Wageningen UR. The taskforce came from Animal Sciences but has been broadened to include researchers from other science groups. For more information click here.
