Business ignores DLO
DLO acquired far fewer contracts from the private sector in 2003 than in previous years.
DLO turnover from industry decreased from 45 million to 32 million euros, a drop of almost thirty percent. There was also a decline in contracts from the biggest DLO customer, the ministry of agriculture, although this was far less. The ministry spent 180 million on DLO research in 2003, only three million less than the previous year. The overall figures, however, show that DLO has become more dependent on the government, according to the draft Annual Report of Wageningen UR.
