Business Plan debates to have translation
The organising committee of next week's two-day debates on the Business Plan of the WAU at Junushoff theatre has decided to provide simultaneous translation rather than hold the entire discussions in English. Rien Bor, from the university's Public Relations office, explained that the decision was made to allow participants the choice of speaking in Dutch or English in order to permit a better discussion. We want to include international students in the discussion, but as they also know, it is difficult to have a good debate when people are feeling the pressure of speaking in a second language.
At least three presentations will be made in English from international professors Norman Long (Monday afternoon, starting at 13:00), Paul Richards and Patricia Howard-Borjas (on Tuesday morning, starting at 9:00). Comments from the audience can also be made in English. One hundred headphones will be available. Am.S
